The objective of this section is to provide new employees with useful information they need for the first few days. If a standard sheet is prepared with the list of issues then the final document can be completed by hand and included in the handbook. If nothing else the new starter feels they are welcome!
The
issues may seem mundane but for someone new to an organisation we assure you
they are very important! The department you will initially be based, nature of the work/ name of manager. Work colleague who has been asked to help you settle in initially. Nearest toilet/ coffee machine.
Use of telephone for private calls
Obtaining stationery/ office equipment/ computers etc
Photocopying Lunch breaks. Hours of working/ flexibility. How to claim expenses.
How to find out about the company pension scheme/ social club etc. When will I be paid. etc.
