ACAS Disciplinary and Grievance Code

ACAS guidance on written statements

If you have a grievance relating to your employment you should raise the matter initially with your immediate supervisor.  The supervisor will consider your grievance and will then notify you of his/her decision.  Every effort will be made to hear a grievance quickly.  You may be required to put your grievance in writing.

 If the decision is not acceptable, you may then refer the matter in writing to Director of the Company (chosen at the company’s discretion) whose decision will be final and binding.

Grievance Procedure

The Company's policy is to be a fair employer.  If a Manager believes that he has been treated unfairly then a grievance may be raised and considered under this formal procedure:

i. The Manager should first discuss any matter with his immediate superior;

ii. if matters are still unresolved they may then be submitted to the Manager of his immediate superior for consideration;

iii.  finally if the matter is still unresolved it will be heard by a Senior Function Head, Divisional Managing Director or member of the Management Board.  If possible the person hearing the grievance will be outside of the normal line management of the individual concerned.  The decision at that stage will be final.
